The Waukesha County Salvation Army in Waukesha, Wisconsin was founded in 1894 and has been providing humanitarian service and offering a place to worship to the community for well over a century. The organization recently commissioned an audio-visual system design and installation company, Lewis Sound & Video Professionals, to make it easy to control two Epson projectors, an Alfatron video switcher, and a Sony Bravia display. The control solution chosen to manage the equipment was Aveo Systems’ Mira Connect 10.

The Mira Connect 10 is a smart control appliance with 10-inch diagonal touchscreen, which in this application was mounted onto a tabletop stand and set up in an auxiliary room so that a support person can assist with managing the AV content for any of the services in the chapel.

The Mira Connect was configured to control the projectors and video switcher over the network, the Sony display via an Ethernet-to-InfraRed (IR) adapter, and the two motorized projector screens via Ethernet-to-contact-closure adapters.

Aveo Systems assisted with creating customized automations that automatically turn on the confidence monitor when either of the projectors is powered on. Mike Beffel of Lewis Sound was in charge of the installation and completed the control configuration with customized visuals for the Mira Connect touchscreen, including the Salvation Army logo and a blue background.

“I had the training session for the system with the client, and they are very happy with the system,” stated Mike.

Now the Salvation Army can easily share content on the two projector screens in the chapel as well as the Sony Bravia display from a computer or laptop, adjust the volume of the presentation in the chamber, and power on and off the equipment at will.

Craig Richardson, CEO of Aveo Systems, added, “It was a pleasure working with Mike on this project as he knew exactly what his client needed and was able to easily configure Mira Connect to meet those requirements.”
