Mira Connect Brings Easy Display Control to CBRE

Sharp Business Systems uses a Mira Connect smart AV control system in a CBRE shared conference space to provide easy display control of their interactive touchscreens.

Marietta, GA – CBRE Group, Inc. is a global provider of advisory services, real estate investments, property management, and more. One of the properties managed by CBRE is a multi-use corporate office located just off the Capital Beltway in McLean, Virginia.

CBRE has established a shared conference space on an upper floor of the office building and wanted an easy way for multiple users to initiate and manage videoconferencing calls. The conference space uses two Sharp Aquos All-in-One 70-inch interactive touchscreens, which give users the ability to display a desired video source and do real-time annotation or “whiteboard drawing” on top of the video. For control of the video sources going to the Aquos displays, Sharp Business Systems purchased a Mira Connect 10 smart AV control system from Aveo Systems.

Ron Pendleton, of Pendleton Consulting in Maryland, provided installation services for the room. “This was my first installation using Mira Connect,” said Pendleton. “The Sharp Aquos screens are really versatile, and we wanted to take full advantage of their abilities. To make things easy for users as well as for aesthetic reasons – I don’t like to see cabling – I mounted the Mira Connect on the wall right next to the touchscreens.”

The Mira Connect control system communicates with the Aquos displays and an Atlona video switcher. This allows the Mira Connect touch panel to power on or off the displays, adjust volume and mute, and easily select from six video sources for each display, whether it is to start a videoconference call, connect to a person’s laptop in the room, or watch a channel on cable TV.

The room also incorporates a Huddlecam PTZ camera, an Audix ceiling mic, a Vaddio mixer, and eight JBL ceiling tile speakers powered by a QSC amplifier.

“It was really easy to set up the Mira Connect,” said Pendleton. From Mira Connect’s cloud-based dashboard, called Mira Portal, Pendleton simply added the Sharp Aquos displays and Atlona switcher from a pulldown menu, enabled the desired video inputs, added labels and descriptions, and associated the outputs of the video switcher to the inputs of the displays, and that’s it. Mira Connect immediately connected to the devices over the network and automatically created the user interface to allow easy video source selection for both displays.

Pendleton continued, “I receive Aveo Systems newsletters, and I am pleased to see that they are adding new features and control capabilities constantly; this tells me that Aveo Systems is in tune with the needs of the industry. I see many opportunities for using Mira Connect in future installations, as well as in some installations I have already done for customers.”
