Fairfield Prep uses Mira Connect for AV Control

Fairfield College Preparatory School, a preparatory school located on the campus of Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, enlisted the services of New England Television Service, LLC (dba NETV Service), based in Canton, CT, to upgrade the audiovisual equipment in a cafeteria / event space. NETV Service owner, Dean Wysocki, researched viable solutions to meet the school’s specifications while remaining within their budgetary requirements.

The Project Design

Wysocki’s equipment design for the room included an:

  • Ashly DSP MXA-1502 audio digital signal processor mixer amplifier
  • AVPro Edge AC-CX84-AUHD video switcher
  • Epson Projector
  • PTZ Optics G3 series camera
  • Global Caché IP2CC-P interface to help with lowering and raising the projector screen
  • Several Shure wireless microphones for sound reinforcement through the Ashly processor.

Mira Connect as the Control Solution

After researching control solutions, Wysocki selected Aveo Systems’ Mira Connect AV control system, using a Mira Connect 10 touch panel to control the equipment.

He found the Mira Connect system compelling with its easy-to-configure setup and automatically-generated user interface, stating, “I’m very impressed with the ease of setup and how different this is from your typical commercial control system’s tedious icon-by-icon build.”

Aveo Systems’ CEO, Dr. Craig Richardson, added, “We’ve enjoyed working with NETV Service and Fairfield Prep and are always pleased to hear how our Mira Connect platform makes it easier for our partners to be successful with their customers.”

What Mira Connect Does

Mira Connect systems control an extensive list of devices from many leading manufacturers, from digital signal processors to displays to cameras to lighting systems and motorized blinds. The user interface is created automatically based on the devices selected to be controlled and the control points that are indicated.

Setup of a Mira Connect system is done via Mira Portal, the cloud-based management platform for Mira Connect, without the need for programming.

Mira Connect appliances come with one year of advanced services that are activated with a room license. The advanced services for appliances include:

  • Remote Control for AV/IT support teams,
  • Email and/or text notifications when equipment goes offline,
  • Mira Connect Me secondary control from a personal device,
  • and integration with Microsoft Office 365 Calendars.

The customer can purchase multiple service years upfront and decide whether to extend these services at any time.

Mira Connect is also available as a software-only application. The software version offers an application programming interface (API) that enables integration of Mira Connect AV control into other control devices and user interfaces.

How Fairfield Prep Uses Mira Connect

A Mira Connect 10 touch panel was mounted in the room’s equipment rack. Room users at Fairfield Prep can control the AV equipment from the touch panel directly and can also use the Mira Connect Me feature so they can access the Mira Connect user interface on an Apple iPad tablet from anywhere in the room.
