Atlanta Boy Scouts of America Headquarters Uses Mira Connect to Control the AV in their Executive Conference Room

The Atlanta headquarters for Boy Scouts of America (BSA) contacted a local integration firm, DC Pro, to address their need for an easy-to-use presentation system with improved audio and video conferencing in their executive conference room. The goal was to improve presentation, audio quality, and video conferencing capabilities while making it easy for scout leaders, distinguished donors and guests, BSA staff, and volunteers to effortlessly use the room.
Prior to the upgrade, BSA had used webcams on the table, video conferencing from a user’s laptop with an external microphone on the table, and hardwired presentation connections that limited where presenters could be in the room.
Having used professionally designed conference rooms from their donors’ and senior volunteers’ Atlanta-based organizations, the BSA team decided an upgrade to their conference room with higher-quality audio and video and more presentation flexibility would allow them to share their message more effectively, better interact with key stakeholders, and improve communications with local BSA leaders, scouts, and volunteers. Improving the audio and video quality experience while staying within budget was an important requirement.
DC Pro’s room design for Boy Scouts of America included an Aveo Systems Mira Connect AV control system to control an Alfatron PTZ camera, an Alfatron WUK4A video switcher that connects to a BenQ projector, a Biamp Tesira X400 audio processor with ceiling-mounted Parlé microphones, and an Alfatron UC1 Wireless Conferencing System for presentations from anywhere in the room. A dedicated computer supports multiple video conferencing applications and connects with USB to the Biamp Tesira for best-in-class audio quality locally and to the remote participants.

DC Pro selected the Mira Connect 10 touch panel with tabletop stand and two LED lights bars to indicate when microphones are active or muted in the Biamp Tesira system. Mira Connect controls the projector, source selection for video switching, audio mute and levels, camera positioning, and enables remote management of the system.
“Working with Aveo Systems was a seamless experience,“ mentioned Aaron Rathbone, owner of DC Pro, adding “Aveo was able to provide remote support as needed, including quickly creating a custom driver for the BenQ projector, allowing us to complete the project on time and within budget. It was an excellent experience all around.”
DC Pro’s talented installation team had the room up and running in no time. With no programming required, configuring the Mira Connect control system was straightforward and produced the desired user controls on the touchscreen immediately.
Adding BSA’s logo and an appropriate background image provided the finishing touches for a customized touchscreen.

The Atlanta Area BSA Building Manager noted, “Mira Connect’s user interface made it easy for their users to take advantage of the room immediately.” BSA was also excited they could make changes to the control system, control it remotely, and track the room status with Aveo’s Mira Portal cloud management system.
“We enjoyed working with Aaron’s team and BSA to both understand their goals and help ensure the system and the user interface met expectations, said Craig Richardson, CEO of Aveo Systems. “We look forward to working with DC Pro and BSA on future opportunities.”
Mira Connect is an all-in-one touchscreen control system and user interface that makes it easy to create a professional user experience, allowing intuitive management of displays, cameras, DSP audio devices, video switchers, video codecs, TV tuners, and more. Configuring is done through Mira Portal, the cloud-based management platform for Mira Connect, without the need for programming.
